Aftercare
By JESS HU
Created by two Chinese American artists whose family roots trace back to Guangzhou, Aftercare is a contemplative film exploring presence, embodiment, and the quiet power of taking up space. The work draws from a shared cultural lineage, resisting explanation or spectacle and allowing the movement to exist with honesty and autonomy.
Dancer Jin Lee Baebei fuses Shaolin martial arts and contemporary dance, as her movement becomes both grounded and expansive—discipline softening into vulnerability, strength dissolving into care.
